On July 22, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, met with Chilean Ambassador to China Pablo Arriarán Ahumada and his delegation in Chengdu.

Shi Xiaolin welcomed Ambassador Pablo Arriarán Ahumada on his first visit to Sichuan since assuming office, expressed gratitude for his efforts in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Chile, and provided a brief overview of Sichuan's development. She noted that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Sichuan and Chile have achieved substantial results in such fields as mutual visits, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchanges. Sichuan and Chile exhibit strong economic complementarity while sharing common challenges such as climate change response, livelihood improvement, and natural disaster prevention, which present vast potential for deeper trade and cultural cooperation. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Chile. It is hoped that the ambassador's visit would serve as an opportunity for both sides to jointly promote close interactions, develop sister-city relations, build communication platforms, help expand two-way trade and investment for enterprises from the two regions, strengthen cooperation in aspects such as science and technology, tourism and education, and continuously propel win-win collaboration and friendly relations across all fields to new heights.

Pablo Arriarán Ahumada said that, building on the sound development momentum of bilateral relations, Chile and Sichuan have continuously deepened their friendly exchanges and cooperation. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Chile and China and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the free trade agreement. He expressed the hope of leveraging the bridging role of embassies and consulates, making good use of platforms such as the "Chile Week" event, and continuously expanding the trade volume between the two regions. Sichuan enterprises are welcome to invest in energy, mineral resources and other projects in Chile. He further hoped to enhance exchanges among tech startups and deepen cooperation in areas including cultural tourism, education, and disaster prevention and mitigation, thereby bringing greater benefits to the people of both regions.

Consul General of Chile in Chengdu José Miguel Vial Valdivieso and leading officials from relevant provincial departments, among others, attended the meeting.
